Wendy Banks is a proud 6th generation farmer from Lyndhurst, Ontario. She has always held a strong interest in agriculture and early in her career she pursued studies in Horticulture at Algonquin College while running a successful greenhouse operation. However, it was only until recent years that she discovered her true passion, which has been to develop Wendy’s Mobile Market and provide a much-needed service to help local producers market their products.
Starting 4 years ago with just a few local farmers supplying her, Wendy’s business has not only expanded to handle products from over 70- local producers but also delivers to over 50 local restaurants plus an array of individual homes and business. In addition, Wendy operates a country store year round and in keeping with consumer demand, has added an onsite kitchen.
The local food movement and food traceability is of utmost concern to Wendy and in 2008, she was chosen as Leeds and Grenville County winner of the Premier’s Award for Agri-Food Innovation Excellence. With the help of her husband Rick and her daughter Leigha, Wendy looks forward to continuing to connect farm to fork for future generations to come.
